Opuntia Pads are a great natural food for a range of species such as Tortoises, Bearded Dragons, Iguanas, Chameleons, Uromastyx and more! Not only is it a food eaten naturally by many reptiles in the wild (particularly Mediterranean and desert species), but it is naturally high in moisture and so aids hydration. Opuntia also contains a very high level of Calcium, as well as having a great Calcium: Phosphorous ratio.
While some animals are more than happy to chew on a whole piece of prickly pear, it is often worth cutting into smaller chunks.
