Most notably, that during the day they photosynthesise thus contributing to the oxygen levels whilst decreasing the carbon dioxide within your aquarium. They also help to break down the waste that is present in your aquarium from uneaten food and fish waste.
Many aquatic plants can provide a hiding place for smaller fish as well as somewhere to graze.
Eating plants can aid in the prevention of constipation and swim bladder disorders.
Plants in the aquarium are especially beneficial as they provide a constant food source for herbivorous fish that require frequent feeding.
