Exo Terra’s Bamboo Duel Layer substrate allows you to recreate a multi-layer substrate layer closely based on the biodiverse tropical forests. The forest floor is mostly made up of a first layer of moss and lichens then a bottom layer of decomposing leaves and wood to create a rich substrate for plants and animals alike.

Exo Terra has created a duel substrate layer to make this possible, the important top layer consists of naturally dried moss from a sustainable source to provide a soft covering for reptiles and inverts to hide and take shelter. This layer has an important job of locking in the moisture below the moss to aid in heightening humidity levels.

The base layer consists of rich coco peat and coco fibre raging in grain size to provide a perfect environment for plants to flourish and also holds humidity well.

Exo Terra’s Duel Layer substrates make a perfect start to your bioactive setup and all you need is a clean-up crew! This consist of insects like woodlice and springtails which are essential to any bioactive setup.
