Description

The ITC Aquatics PARwise PRO PAR Meter is a specially designed device created to assist aquarium keepers in setting up and maintaining correct light settings. Throughout the hobby, the hardest question to answer has always been, “Are my light settings efficient for growth?” PARwise PRO was created to help with this.

Due to our eyes, determining the correct light settings can be difficult. With PARwise, we don’t need to worry about this anymore. PARwise is capable of measuring PAR (Photosynthetic Active Radiation), Kelvin (colour temperature), LUX, Spectrum, DLI (Daily Light Integral), Peak Wavelength, and Hue (as colour). Not only this, but the PRO PARwise takes both PAR and Spectrum together to give you cPUR—an accurate comparative measurement of what corals actually need! Measuring light has never been easier!

cPUR is a measurement of light specifically used for corals. PAR alone does not provide enough information regarding whether the light is suitable for coral growth, as you can have high PAR but in a totally wrong spectrum. Therefore, PAR is now outdated. The cPUR measurement with PARwise PRO ensures the light wavelengths and intensity necessary for coral growth while excluding unnecessary wavelengths for photosynthesis. Finally, we have a PAR value that is relevant!

These statistics allow us to make educated decisions about our light settings to ensure that the correct amount and type of light reaches where it needs to be. Additionally, over time, due to growth and other factors, we need to adjust our lights to maintain this correct lighting. PARwise will ensure that whether it be plants or corals, we get the right light for optimal growth, allowing our aquariums to flourish.

Using PARwise couldn’t be simpler. Just plug it into a computer capable of accepting USB-A, load up the PARwise website in a browser such as Chrome, and begin testing. It includes a free USB-C adapter to fit into Android smartphones, tablets, modern PCs, and even Macs. It connects to most devices but will not connect to iOS/iPadOS.

Simply visit the PARwise website on Google Chrome-based web browsers, then place the sensor next to your desired area to take a reading. Once you have been online once, you can download the simple-to-use app for even easier use going forward.
